Ian Mason has very loose and free drawing style that almost belies his clever and sensitive use of line. His breed portraits are stunningly effective and combine a touch of the traditional with a contemporary twist. For the most part he works in ink washes but occasionally introduces other media such as compressed charcoal to great effect. He works quickly with natural materials that echo the raw and elegant nature of mark making and the resultant works have an almost sculptural, graphic quality to them. Ian depicts a huge range of breeds in his selling portfolio.
