Bill Jacklin

trowbridge artist - Bill Jacklin Bill Jacklin began his artistic journey when he enrolled to study Graphic Design at Walthamstow School of Art, London in 1960. After which he gained work as a graphic designer at Studio Seven, London for two years, post-university. In 1962 he decided to return to Walthamstow to study painting and subsequently flourished, going on to study at the Royal College of Art, London from 1964 to 1967. He later threw himself in to the teaching profession, teaching at Chelsea School of Art, Hornsey and Royal Colleges of Art and at schools in Kent and Surrey. As confidence grew he began to exhibit in solo shows throughout the 1970s and 1980s with Marlborough Fine Art, London and Marlborough Gallery, New York. He also participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally from the early 1970s. Jacklin has undertaken many commissions, notably from the Bank of England, the Ivy Restaurant, De Beers and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for the North Terminal of Washington National Airport. Bill Jacklin eventually decided to take up residence in New York in 1985. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1991 and in 1993 was Official Artist-in-Residence for the British Council in Hong Kong. Jacklin still lives and works in New York, USA today.
