Ken Denning was born in 1957 in the town of Sønderborg, Southern Denmark. Denning started his career in graphic design, choosing etching and drawing as his preferred methods of expression. He has extensively explored the different shades of black and white, from the deepest, velvety black through to the crispest of bright whites. Dramatic landscapes, both of places visited and of his surrounding homeland in Denmark, preoccupy Dennings' work. In the nineties, Denning was experimental with his mediums, including lithography, serigraphy, photogravure, drypoint, woodcut, and incorporating oils, acrylics and plaster to create depth in his pieces. Acting as a window, peering through the horizontal lines and vegetation the developed conceptual perspective offers a vivid and imaginative finish. The scrawls and lines act not as a distraction but a sophisticated compliment to the overall depth of his landscapes.
