Meridith Martens

From her first art commission in high school, Meridith Martens has had a lifelong passion for putting the world around her on canvas and paper. She is equally comfortable with realism and abstract and the infinite range of expression between them.
Meridith Martens was born in Illinois, and her Navy family eventually settled in Annapolis where she combined her love of horses with her artistic talent and a gifted painter of horses emerged.
She attended the New School in New York, the Corcoran in Washington and studied under Volang in Paris. As she grew, her work evolved and portraits and abstracts shared her passion.
Meridith Martens painting of the World Trade Center, created just days after September 11, travelled the world for two years with the True Colors exhibit, an artists' response to the tragic events of that day.
She now resides in North Carolina and continues to enhance her portfolio with a blend of animal portraits, expressive abstracts and corporate commissions. She has recently completed illustrating a children's Christmas book and is working on commissioned paintings for the print market.
