Joni Vanderslice founded J. Banks Design in 1986. Since the company's inception she has served as owner and president, growing the company into an internationally recognized design firm of over 40 associates. Joni's design philosophy is part of what makes the company so successful. She captures the client's vision with the same passion as if it were her own. Her interiors are dynamic and ever-evolving and each competed project evokes a feeling of "life made better" through creative design. Joni feels her greatest accomplishment occurs when she creates spaces that encourage the freedom to live life. As the overall design director for J. Banks Design, Joni has been honoured as ASID's Southeast Designer of the Year and has also been named the ASID Dora Gray Designer of the Year. J. Banks Design received the 2013 Gold Key Award for Outstanding Resort Design and remains a regular fixture on Interior Design magazine's lists of "Top 200 Interior Design Giants" and "Top 75 Hospitality Design Giants. Travel inspires Joni and provides her with fresh insight for her namesake furniture fabric, art, tile and rug lines: The J. Joni's passion for design is equalled only by her profound love of family and a strong desire to give back. Her family's personal endeavour is the Valentine Project - a mission to provide a safe, family-like home for orphans in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. LAURA BISCHOFBERGER has been a fixture to the commercial design team at J. Banks Design Group for the past eight years, with a primary focus on hospitality and clubhouse design. She describes her attraction to these sectors of the market as such: "I like the concept of designing for a full brand, especially helping clients envision what their brand should embody. Hospitality design creates a trademark and an exclusive brand that is unique to the client . . . and unique visions require unique approaches. "Laura's approach and philosophy is built upon conceptualizing design solutions that translate into sustainable and functional, yet luxurious and sophisticated interiors. Her natural aptitude for project management and pristine attention to detail assure an efficient and streamlined design process, while creating memorable end result. Read Article Read Article
